E B Mayes, 44, a respected Priceville farmer, died last night from a self inflicted shotgun wound. He had recently suffered illness including influenza and was described as blue and dependent. Survived by wife and four children, funeral set for Tuesday at 11 with burial in the family lot near the Mayes home. News reached Decatur early today and friends expressed regret.

J L Hamlett a 35 year old merchant in West Boylston Montgomery suburb was shot in the neck while standing outside his store police said a Negro burglar fired without warning then ran inside grabbing about 100 dollars from the box as Mrs Hamlett washed dishes.
