Alabama State Attorney General Charles C. McCall states in an unofficial opinion that Decatur's police jurisdiction reaches three miles into Limestone County and radiates beyond the city. Death of pianist ruled self inflicted blaze tragedy
Miss Elsie Mandelberg a Columbia University graduate and piano teacher was found burned in a bathtub after her clothing ignited at a kitchen gas range. Her mother Celia Mandelberg extinguished the flames and a physician arrived too late. Dr. Dewey Weinberg noted charred paper and said she had attempted suicide by poison two weeks earlier and showed despondency.

Negro admits he attacked two women in Alabama
Mose Daniel a 19 year old Black man is held at Kilby prison awaiting preliminary hearing after a conference with Circuit Judge Leon McCord and officials. Pippin Dies at Luncheon in Courtland Home

Youthful game of war ends in tragedy in Alabama
In Gadsden on March 11 a group of boys playing war games had a pistol fired, wounding 9 year old Rodney Barron and 10 year old T K Ballard. Policeman Killed in Deliberate Hit and Run in New York
Patrolman John Sullivan confronted a speeding motorist in Harlem when the driver veered and ran him down. The officer's body was dragged 90 feet before the car fled toward the Upper East Side.
