Austin Chambers of the University of Alabama band was found unconscious in Mobile at the Battle House Hotel after plunging from the seventh to the third floor roof during Mardi Gras. Doctors say a slanted roof broke the fall. he suffered serious head and hand injuries. Chambers, a freshman from Northampton Connecticut, has shown no witnesses to the incident.

Youth Shot for Theft of Bread in Buffalo
Dorwood Munemaker, 17, was shot in the head by Patrolman A E Andres while fleeing after stealing bread for his starving family. Older brother Lester, 28, was detained after obeying Andres' halt order. The officer said ice caused him to lower the revolver and fire. the youth was dying in hospital.

In Tuscaloosa the case against Floyd Fitts, former Tuscaloosa county deputy sheriff, was dismissed on charges of violating the prohibition law. E H Anderson pled guilty to a prohibition count and was sentenced to four months hard labor and fined. Additional defendants named in transportation indictments include John Payne, Aubrey Payne, C S Stallworth, and Waldo Morrison.
