Birmingham, March 3. Mrs. S. B. Rowell, 66, a Sunday school teacher in the bus crash, died at a hospital. Ten of 19 children aboard remain hospitalized, two in serious condition. The bus, struck by an Alabama Great Southern passenger train, was pushed 403 feet along the track. Eleven year old Juliet Williams jumped with her two year old brother. Rowell had worked as a social worker at the Third Presbyterian church for over 15 years.

City weighs deed to hospital to back WPA project
Decatur council heard a Benevolent Society Hospital board proposal to deed the hospital to the city so a $50 000 addition for black patient care and new equipment could be funded as a WPA project.
