The McGough Bakery Decatur operation ended a two day strike by production department workers after a one year contract granted a flat 12 percent wage increase. The Birmingham Bakery Workers Union CIO waived the closed shop provision and three striking men were arrested for conspiring to hinder business. Some seventeen original strikers were not recalled. The agreement preserves individual employee choice on union membership.
