In Cullman Alabama Mrs Christine Putman Johnston seeks to drop her common law marriage suit against Gov James E Folsom and is to appear in court in person Thursday at a hearing before Judge James H Crow Jr Also summoned is Johnston's brother Carter Etman who acted as next friend in a companion suit to declare Folsom father of Johnston's two year old son James Douglas Their attorney Kingman Shelburne opposed dropping either suit and asked the court to appoint a guardian for the child The judge will hear motions Thursday.
State Democratic chairman Gessner T. McCorvey asks an investigation into alleged fraud in the June 1 Russell county runoff for Democratic convention delegates. Chief Justice Lucien Gardner refuses to convene a special circuit court session, citing insufficient evidence.
Alabama GOP chairman Claude P. Vardaman predicts the Dewey War ticket will win several Southern states next November. He claims Alabama should double its GOP vote and says leaders believe North Carolina and Kentucky are winnable, with Tennessee and Florida possible.
The Huntsville bus terminal manager said a Capitol Trailways bus struck and instantly killed a young woman between 7 and 7 15 PM yesterday. The crash occurred four miles west of Huntsville.

Miss Nina May Frazier twenty one was killed instantly Monday afternoon when struck by a Capitol Motor Lines bus in front of Vaughn's store on Madison Pike four miles west of Huntsville. She was walking with her mother when she stumbled and fell before the bus. Funeral services were set for Wednesday at 11 in Trenton Jackson County with Chambers of Huntsville in charge.
Anti Truman Democrats rally around a new letter from General Dwight D. Eisenhower. Elliott Roosevelt reads the letter at a New York ADA event, claiming it supports a true draft move at the Democratic convention. The letter dates to June 15 and addresses Leslie E. Schwartz. Maury Gene Brooks an 18 year old Morgan County resident died instantly when a car crash near Henderson Tennessee ended a vacation trip for four. His wife Faye Sherrill Brooks was treated for serious injuries and three others were hospitalized including Felton Goodson. the group had departed Decatur to visit Mrs Brooks aunt in Missouri. Funeral services for Brooks will be announced by Brown's funeral company.
Colombia urged the United Nations Security Council to act to end the Berlin crisis. The move followed Trygve Lie’s appeal to bring the issue before the council, with final U.N. action awaiting reactions from the United States and Britain. Dr. Roberto Urdaneta warned the crisis could threaten peace.

John Tandy Parker Sr. 71, a Cullman area farmer and former Morgan County resident, died of a heart attack while plowing his field Monday afternoon. Funeral service set for Wednesday at Evergreen Church, Morgan County, with interment in the church cemetery. Survived by widow Mertie Parker, five sons Harold Harmon Olen Chester and John Jr., four daughters Elsie Andres Christine Wright Lavern Marshborn and Dorothy Motley.
The National Labor Relations Board charges District 31 of the United Mine Workers obstructed mine entrances and barred non union workers from underground until they joined. The case stems from a March six week shutdown amid a pension dispute, with four Pres ton county mines cited. A hearing is set for August 10 in Kingwood, W V.
The Soviet press accuses Kurt Schumacher and other Social Democratic leaders of being anti-Russian spies paid by Western powers. Wilhelm Lohrenz, in Russian custody for two years, signed a confession alleging Schumacher's trip in 1946 to spy for American authorities. the statement claims Schumacher seeks to mold the party into a spying organ under British and American imperialist control.
