Col W W Crawford of Alabama Woodmen leads the proposal to establish a beach for wives and visiting Woodmen. rooms are to be maintained in that city part.
A Lawrence County committee led by Attorney Eugene Downing traveled to Birmingham to lobby the State Highway Commission for a proposed Albany Decatur Russellville route via Moulton. The plan aims to connect the county east to west, boosting agricultural development as county roads are noted to be poor. The Lawrence County Board of Education voted to insure school buildings that may be deeded to the state or district, assigning O L Judy and W C Bragk to handle insurance duties.
Twenty seven Alabama Woodmen of the World units along with Uniform Bank will attend the encampment at Monroe Park Mobile in July 2016. Woodmen from five states Alabama Georgia Florida Mississippi and Louisiana will be represented and at least two thousand members and families are expected. A special Birmingham train carrying 400 men and a 60 piece Boys Industrial School band will depart Sunday July 9 with a Bienville Square concert that afternoon. The drill field site is prepared near the heath and reviews and contests will be held at the grand stand beside the baseball park with the parade date awaiting official confirmation.
