Johnson Suspended by Angels in volatile 1970 season
Anaheim AP report says Alex Johnson the 1970 AL batting champion was suspended indefinitely without pay by the California Angels for failure to give his best effort in winning games. Johnson had been benched for hustle issues and had accused teammate Chico Ruiz of pulling a gun in the clubhouse. Commissioner Bowie Kuhn will review if suspension lasts beyond 10 days.
