Motors were sluggish with American Motors and Ford unchanged, Chrysler up while GM slipped. Aircraft issues were mixed and electronics generally fell. Among the higher prices is a shift in sector leaders as investors reassess utility and manufacturing shares.
In Birmingham, prices for consumer grade eggs per dozen show little change with ample supply and fair demand. Some activity noted as sellers try to move stock, with store delivery and case pricing included for Grade 3S2405 Mediums from 284 to 315.
The Wall Street market slipped after noon with 11.6 million shares traded in four hours. The Dow fell 0.18 to 901.23 as losses slightly outnumbered gains among the 15 most active stocks. Commercial Credit led on volume down 1 percent. INA rose 4 percent while Texas Gulf Sulphur and Great American Holding fell more than 2 points.
