Republicans Propose Strong Preparedness Platform in Ford
The GOP unveiled a 3000 word platform centering on Americanism and preparedness aimed at strengthening national defenses and keeping the United States out of war. It attacks the New Deal for alleged unpreparedness and criticizes Roosevelt for policy moves seen as edging toward war. The document also calls for a two term limit for presidents and pledges aid to liberty seeking peoples without compromising defense. It omits direct Democratic references and targets domestic policy, defense, and foreign policy.
