Cotton Prices Dip After Week High In 1945
The Agriculture Department reports cotton prices slipped slightly at week end after reaching a season high of 29.299 cents per pound on Monday. Thursday averages were 29.16 cents, with 64,500 bales sold in 10 markets versus 91,800 last week. Domestic mills bought moderately as exports remain favorable, and May raw cotton usage rose despite coal and rail strikes. Weather was mostly favorable, but bell weevil damage looms unless control measures succeed.
