College Dorm Rentals Remain Undecided After Quorum Lapse
Decatur College faces unresolved dormitory leasing as the State Board of Education failed to reach a quorum. President Sidney Sandridge and officials met Gov. George Wallace about the plan, with four board members present, delaying a decision on renting 1968 dorms backed by a $1 million bond. Foreclosure threats loom as $200,000 in back interest is due. Attorney General Baxley says leasing is legal but requires state board approval.
