Athens Compress Ready In August

Jefferson Birmingham June 22 AP Authorities investigated the death of county prisoner C. G. Hollyfield who collapsed on a road crew work detail. Dr George Waller attributed the death to acute indigestion super induced by sunstroke, while Deputy Coroner Crowe ruled it death from unknown natural causes with no signs of violence.

Wayne Neville of Kansas City was killed near Emporia Kansas when his air mail plane was torn by a severe windstorm and crashed twenty miles east of the city. Neville had flown the Chicago Dallas route for over two years and left Kansas City with the south bound mail shortly after 3 a m.

Three Executed by District Court in Washington
Nicholas Eagles 32 Samuel Moreno 20 and John Proctor 19 were executed today at the District of Columbia jail for the 1926 killing of Policeman Leo Busch. The long fight to save them included a US Supreme Court appeal and President Coolidge. It was the district's second electric chair execution after a prior gallows case. Eagles sang a Hebrew chant before death. Proctor was unconscious when carried to his death.

Five men were held without bond on murder charges in the lynching of Robert Powell a 24 year old negro accused of killing a detective. A boilermaker A B Wheeler said he joined the hospital raid and Powell was hanged from a bridge eight miles from Houston. Wheeler named six others in the raiding party four of whom have been arrested.
