Alabama House extends poll tax date amid vote buying concerns
The Alabama House approves extending poll tax due date from February 1 to June 15 with delinquency on October 15, aiming to curb vote buying. Rep. Hunter Golson says the move shifts timing away from elections while opponents warn candidates could still influence polls by paying taxes.
