Farmers Profit From Withdrawing and Reselling Cotton
Washington reports farm officials say borrowers are taking cotton out of loan stocks and selling it at higher market prices. With domestic and foreign demand, prices exceed loan rates by about 11 to 14 cents per pound, allowing some profit after loan payoff storage and interest. About 200,000 bales have been removed from loan stocks recently, while overall supply remains large and access to some grades is limited.
