Grant's Massacre yields Seaver shock trade from Mets
The article details Tom Seaver's stance after M. Donald Grant's Wednesday Night Massacre. Seaver did not demand a trade but sought renegotiation through 1981 with 1979-80-81 terms. He and wife Nancy disputed reports of a trade and asserted readiness to negotiate a new deal. The Mets swapped Seaver for a package including Pat Zachry and seven players, highlighting the loss of prime talent and the club's troubled market strategy.
