All on board airliner dead after crash
Searchers found the Capital Airlines plane wreckage on a rugged Virginia mountainside. Fifty people aboard died instantly as the craft likely struck the mountain in the rain minutes before a planned landing at Washington National airport. A Red Cross official described instantaneous death. an AP reporter noted the plane skidded about 250 feet after impact.

Juke Box Saver Saves Arlington Mechanic From Crash
Robert Quick of Arlington credited a loudly playing juke box at Leesburg airport with saving him from death in a Capital Air Lines crash. The airline mechanic was in the terminal getting coffee when the box drowned out the departure announcement, causing him to miss the doomed plane.
