Speed King Segrave Killed in Lake Windermere Crash
Major Sir Henry Segrave the Speed King died after his speed boat Miss England II overturned at Lake Windermere. The 35 year old racer, holder of 231.36 mph auto record, was fatally injured and died between 5 and 5:30 pm after rescue attempts failed. The accident occurred during a test run for the Detroit Cup challenge.
