Guard Called For Rally Of Union At Monroe
Governor Frank Murphy announced a battalion of national guardsmen and 100 state policemen would be sent to Monroe to prevent disorder at a 4 tri state mass meeting of union members. Homer Martin of the United Automobile Workers had urged attendance from Michigan Indiana and Ohio to protest steel workers pickets but promised to discourage non residents from outside Michigan. The meeting is set for 2 p m Sunday in a state park three miles north of Monroe with traffic rerouted and sightseers asked to avoid the area.

Stewart awarded twelve thousand in damage suit verdict
A circuit court jury awarded W H Stewart administrator of his mother Mrs Mattie L Stewarts estate twelve thousand five hundred dollars in a damage suit against Southern Cotton Oil Company arising from a August automobile crash near Bee Line highway. The case sought twenty thousand dollars. The elder Mrs Stewart died from injuries. daughter Mrs John Houston and daughter in law Mrs W H Stewart were also hurt. Testimony closed Friday.
