Fish experts weigh impact of Wheeler Dam water drop on fishing
The Wheeler Dam breach lowering water levels concentrates fish into smaller areas and may aid game fish by feeding on young rough and trash fish, while some fry losses are possible. Deep water species likely unaffected, and future fishing could even improve. Duck hunting and refuge effects are mixed, with potential for new plant growth if reflooded. A natural history society could form to unite bird, plant, fish and wildlife enthusiasts.
