A Lakeside High School junior drowned Friday afternoon after slipping into 15 feet of water near a culvert off Highway 20. Witness Jimmy Mason of Decatur and Thomas Stevenson, 14, searched the backwater of the Tennessee River as a passerby Roger Youngblood helped. The youth was found about five feet below the bank around 5:30 p.m.
