US Losses Heavy in Viet War Dong Xoai Battle

In Dong Xoai a Viet Cong assault cut down reinforcements as 1,500 attackers overran the district capital 60 miles north of Saigon. Reports differ, but official tallies range from 7 dead 13 wounded to 14 dead and 13 wounded among Americans. civilians and Vietnamese casualties are described as staggering.

Five year old Rita Renata Adams of Hartselle was struck by a car on 5th Ave SE and taken to a hospital, with officials saying she was not admitted. Police noted the driver Joseph Albert Brewer of Walnut St NE. Pasadena district awards Worthington Air Conditioning over $500000 for school district air equipment. Fire department had no calls. Interstate 65 wreck near Cullman and Alabama 20 collision near Decatur involved local residents. Morgan County HS grad Paul P. Astronaut McDivitt Whiite Return Home to Families in Houston

Youngest Convict St Bernard Starts Life Term in Cook County Jail

AP reports Bernardo the St Bernard, age 15 months, began a life term at Cook County Jail after being charged with mopery with intent to gawk. He received mug shots and a physical, was assigned inmate No. 000-065, paw prints taken, and a bath. The dog mascot caused a splash as warden and staff described his size and role among 1,630 prisoners.
