He will address the Disabled American Veterans in Montgomery on June 26 the Associated Industries of Alabama in Decatur on July 9 an Independence Day event in Piedmont on July 5 and the state American Legion convention in Montgomery on July 6. Final Report on Morgan County Red Cross Campaign 1947 48
A total of 13672.13 was raised in Morgan county during the 1947 48 Red Cross drive. Robert McNelly, campaign chairman, said the county surpassed its goal by over 170 and about 6000 people contributed. He thanked Roy Fite of Decatur and 500 volunteers, noting McNelly was appointed to fill D L Mixon’s vacancy.

Yarbrough Receives Presidential Citation for Marine Service
Jack Nelson Yarbrough son of 518 Sixth Avenue West received a Presidential unit citation this morning for extraordinary duty with the Sixth Marine Division at Sugar Loaf Hill. The award was sent by mail and the entire division was to receive citations. Yarbrough is now attending pre medical studies in Memphis.

Flying Saucer Was Only Plane Seen Over Fairview
Decatur resident Mrs. C J Bolan of Pine Street told The Daily that the so called flying saucer sighted by six Fairview residents was an airplane. She described a straight path and a trailing smoky line from a motor powered craft, noting the object appeared to have propulsion.

Funeral services for 63 year old William A Moran fatally injured while working with a team of mules on a rake near Hillsboro 1 will be held Friday. Moran was dragged by runaway mules and died after 12 hours at Jefferson hospital. Interment at Old Bethel cemetery with pallbearers named.
