In Morgan County Democratic primary runoff Rep. Bob Jones led with 7 076 votes while Rep. Carl Elliott trailed with 6 487. Backed by Republicans and Ku Klux Klan groups plan to "get Elliott" and then "get Jones" in November faced pushback from local supporters. Local analysis notes Senate seniority matters and predicts at least 16 candidates for eight House seats in November with Valley voters pivotal for Jones. A four lane highway project is expected to consume about 40 acres of land.
