Probe Into Reported Vice in Mobile Police Began
Two investigations into corruption and vice within Mobile police and fire departments were reported by Civil Service Board member Neander Cunningham. Peter B. Hamilton, board chairman, proposed an inquiry into the police and fire departments after receiving months of information suggesting some officers accepted bribe money. Cunningham said the probes have been underway for many months and are highly serious and confidential. Sidney C. Phillips voted against the new probe. Hamilton noted he sought the police inquiry after gathered information over several months.
