A former convict and his red haired wife who led officers on a five day chase across four states were captured while asleep in a Cowpens area home. Charles W. Brown said the couple Carl Baskin Hensley and Martha Louise Hill Hensley were nabbed before rising. An associated man Edward Clyde McAllister was captured in Spartanburg. Slain, 3 Hurt In Gun Battle
One bandit died and two wounded in a Greenwich Village cafe hold up with police firing on fleeing suspects. A bystander and two patrons were injured during the exchange as a getaway car crashed near Washington Square and a fugitive was killed in a Salle Champagne kitchen.
