OPA Decision Widens Law
Supreme Court ruling expands relief for tenants overcharged in rents or prices. Tenants may sue via OPA in federal court to recover money or seek eviction reinstatement. When OPA sues, refunds can go to the tenant or to the Treasury depending on the action, altering incentives to sue. The Minneapolis case traced back to 1943 helped shape these limits.
