Nancarrow Named Gadsden Principal
Morgan County Superintendent George Nancarrow will become principal of Litchfield High School in Gadsden starting July 1. The newly built junior high will convert to a 9 through 12 senior high, serving about 1 000 students. Nancarrow, defeated in the Democratic runoff last year, plans a smooth transition and notes his long career in Morgan County education.

Prisoner Stabbing in Alabama Prisons
Holman Prison inmate Paul Short, 41, was stabbed by Harold Putman 21, amid a money dispute. Short, in good condition at a hospital, faces burglary sentence from Jefferson County. In a related case, George Dunn, 22, was killed by stabbing last Friday at Fountain Correctional Center near Atmore.

Teenagers Charged With Grand Larceny At Gibson's Center
Two Decatur youths Micki Ann Slaton 16 and Deborah Blaxton 18 were charged with grand larceny after a Gibson's Discount Center theft valued at 37.75. Both were jailed in Morgan County with bonds set at 750 each. Police also reported a wallet theft from a doctor’s office on 16th Ave and a separate petit larceny involving two batteries at Gibson's. Prowlings in southwest and southeast Decatur yielded no arrests.
