Salathiel Boyd and the Mayflower Expedition Night Drift
In December 1620 Salathiel Boyd, master gunner, is ferried from Plymouth to the Mayflower. The exploration party, exposed to freezing winds and spray, rows toward the shore and encounters Indigenous people and a large dark object. After a brutal night, they set fires for defense and rest, while concern grows over provisions and leadership as Miles Standish and John Carver steer tense decisions. The next morning the object on the beach is revealed to be a large fish or possible whale.
