Two Causes For Frequent And Persistent Headaches
Dr. Arnold P. Friedman and co workers of New York study headaches with two main causes: head injuries and psychological distress. After accidents pain often lasts over two months and may involve swelling of blood vessels and muscle spasms. Psychogenic headaches arise with mental conflict and show no physical illness, possibly due to vascular changes and muscle tension. Treatments included pain relievers and some drugs, vitamins, and psychological measures, with best results from pain relievers. Confidence and reducing mental and physical strain are important, with sedatives sometimes prescribed.
