Four Morgan County students will attend Girls State opening sessions. Pennie Wood of Decatur High will run for state treasurer with Decatur Rotary sponsorship. Dawn Buchanan of Austin High will run for state senator, sponsored by Decatur Women’s Club. Connie Lane and Kathy Banks from Danville and West Morgan High, sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary.

London reports a National Child Development Study shows maternal influenza during pregnancy linked to higher leukemia risk in children. Of 179 child deaths, 20 were cancers and 13 leukemia or related. leukemia was nine times more common if mothers had influenza. Risk remains tiny, vaccine advice for pregnant women debated.
