Morgan County health officer Dr Murphree announces Salk polio vaccine now available to anyone under 20, extending eligibility from six months to 20th birthday. Shots at the health center 1:30 to 4 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays. No county clinics currently.
Weekend traffic toll rises with sixteen fatalities across Alabama. Notable crashes occur in Gadsden and Mobile, including a 64 foot embankment plunge that killed Mrs. Boyd Victoria Clements and injured her daughter Deborah Carl.
Adlai Stevenson and Estes Kefauver faced off on the final day of the California primary predicting victory in the winner take all contest. Kefauver attacked the civil rights issue while Stevenson denounced the political sideshow. The California primary looms as a pivotal test following Florida results and New York Montana and South Dakota primaries.
