Tanner FFA Chapter Active During Year
The Tanner Chapter of Future Farmers of America completed a successful year in 1952. Joe Broadwater earned Star Farmer of Alabama and was elected President of the Alabama Association. he was also chosen Future Farmer of the Year. The group held local officers meetings, pig chain growth to eighty four pigs, greenhand initiation, and cooperated on county fair exhibits. They added a welding machine and popcorn venture with FHA, ran 600 acres of terrace lines, improved sewage, pruned orchards, and completed campus walks. The beef judging team won a district title and members aided community projects, radio programs, and toy repairs. Sixteen members attended events including a National FFA convention trip. two members planned state office bids and prize winners received recognition at the state convention.
