Alabama Hosiery Mill Vacation Pay Policy
Employees of an Alabama hosiery mill were told the plant would close the week of July 4 with all staff to report July 11. Vacation pay depends on tenure: 2 percent of earnings for 12 months to five years, 4 percent for five years or more, based on the 52 week period ended April 22, 1949. Next year’s vacation pay will use the 52 week period ended March 31, 1949. The change simplifies payroll and won’t alter total vacation pay.
