Judge Malone awaits transfer notice to set hearings
Probate Judge B L Malone said no date has been set for hearings of Roy Wright and Eugene Williams in the Scottsboro case pending transfer to the Morgan county juvenile court. After notification from the circuit clerk, a hearing date will be fixed. The two teenagers were returned to Jefferson county jail after a habeas corpus hearing challenging their age at the time of the alleged attack on two white girls aboard a Southern freight train. The state will pursue incorrigibility in juvenile court, with the matter potentially cited back to circuit court.

Man Identified as William Gordon in Hose Theft Case
Police stated the detained man on Thursday morning was identified as William Gordon. About 200 feet of hose stolen from several homes were recovered from purchasers, with 50 feet still missing. Gordon claimed he left a hose section on a sidewalk while attempting to sell it.
