Traffic toll declines in first half of 1947
In a National Safety Council report dated July 31 1947 Chicago the council says U S traffic fatalities averaged 80 daily from January 1 to July 1 totaling 14 480 for the first six months nine percent below the same period in 1946. June deaths rose five percent over May yet were eight percent below June 1941. Travel rising and five month mileage death rate about five percent lower than last year.
