Army Pfc Johnny Bruce Sewell from Hartselle was killed in South Vietnam last Thursday during a skirmish with Viet Cong. His parents in Decatur were notified Sunday by Army officers. Sewell, a Morgan County High School graduate and 1967 inductee, had been in Vietnam since December 20 and wrote of wet feet in a rice field before his death.
The visit by Alabama governor George Wallace included a Florida stop at Tampa with a 800-person dinner. Lt. Gen. Sumter Lowry endorsed Wallace calling him intelligent and sincere. Wallace vowed to appear on every state's ballot by November and claimed 39 qualifications.
