Austria declared war on Servia in a note to Belgrade for transmission to the Servian government. The action followed Germany's refusal to join a mediation conference and the Austrian government stated it would not halt hostilities.
Paris reports the defense in the Caillaux case claiming extenuating circumstances after prosecutor Herbauex dropped the premeditation charge. The acquittal or light sentence appears likely as tens of thousands gathered outside the Palace of Justice this afternoon.
In Krayguyevatz Servia on July 28 King Peter vowed to call out reserves to fight Austria. He claimed half a million volunteers would defend a country newly freed after 500 years of oppression, and praised Servian arms as ultra modern and capable.
