Vandalism May Have Led To Drowning In Hartselle

An 18 year old pool cleaner died after vandals damaged the Hartselle Park and Recreation Department pool. Marshall Lampkin, on the work crew since April, drowned while removing debris from a 12 foot diving well. Coroner Guy Hollaway cited a possible muscle cramp and stress from the debris, with four others present including Norris civic idea director who attempted rescue but failed.

Chickens Die Threatens to Push Up Prices This Summer

Heat waves kill thousands of chickens in Georgia Alabama Texas Mississippi Arkansas North Carolina and the Delmarva peninsula affecting 3.3 billion broilers yearly. Wilson Ordered To Be Executed

A Decatur man already serving a life term was sentenced to death for a Mobile murder after a 20 year robbery sentence. Thomas Milton Wilson, 38, convicted in Morgan County Circuit Court in April for robbing Central Bank of Alabama’s southside branch, faces execution for the fatal shooting of Joe Gilliland during an apt robbery in Mobile.

Southeast student loan defaults hit 45 million dollars

HEW reports one in six Southeast college borrowers with federal loans defaulting. About 25 million dollars are from delinquent loans awaiting collection while 45 million dollars in bad debts remain. Nine loan collectors in the region face 45 000 cases across eight states.
