Dowd Rites Planned for Indianapolis Native
The body of William Marsh Dowd who died Saturday in Indianapolis arrived by rail in Decatur and will lie in state at Brown's Chapel on Ferry Street until Wednesday morning. A 9 o'clock funeral will be held at St. Ann's Catholic church with burial in Athens cemetery. Pallbearers include Robert Nebrig Alfred Hodgins Odell Otte Lanier Royer and Sam McDowra. Survivors include two sisters Mrs. Otto of Decatur and Mrs. Anna of Albuquerque New Mexico along with nieces and nephews. Dowd, born February 25 1871 at Tanner, was the son of the late Captain Pp Ww Dowd and Anna Dowd. He moved to Indianapolis about 30 years ago.
