Roderick Meakle, 28, a concert violinist and son of a Patterson banker, is under arrest in a Patterson hospital for the murder of Miss Jennie Brauer, 22, a noted swimmer who had come from Germany. A death pact and two notes found in a car indicate a plan to die together after a quarrel over marriage to another woman, Miss Jessie Murphy. West Hunt in Custody After fatal shooting of Hugh Baker
In Louisville Kentucky West Hunt an employee of the Louisville and Nashville shops was jailed after fatally shooting Hugh Baker age 50 at the corner of Second Avenue and Grant Street shortly after 9 pm Saturday. Hunt said Baker advanced with a knife and he fired three times wounding Baker who died en route to a hospital. Baker formerly worked at the L and N shops and later did carpenter work in Winston county. Funeral services were held at Union Hill cemetery near Eva. pallbearers and honorary pallbearers named.
