Webster Massachusetts January 28 The Danbury Silk Mills announce an immediate 10 percent wage increase for all employees and an ongoing profit sharing plan for 1009 operatives.
Lucien Mitchell, a Black man, was cut by a Montgomery Black man named Robinson in front of the Decatur Livery Company stables and Twin City Transfer Company after noon. The quarrel reportedly arose over duties at the stables. Robinson fled down Cain Street but was captured by grocer L. Fuher and turned over to the sheriff.
In Bowling Green Kentucky a fire started under a five gallon oil can causing an explosion that badly burned three children of Mrs John Jordan of Smiths Grove. Ernest aged five suffered more serious burns across multiple areas and may be permanently disfigured.
In Miami on January 28 two new American records for flying boats carrying passengers were claimed. Cy. Co. Witmer flew with five passengers for one minute six seconds after a thirty second rise. Witmer and four passengers then stayed aloft three minutes twelve seconds after takeoff.
Hunteville police have arrested three men for the robbery of Southern railway passenger train No. 41 last Friday night. C. P. Fruit of High Point North Carolina admits a prior penitentiary term. Glenn McLain and Reese Powery of Galveston Indiana are named as suspects and three revolvers, a rifle, cartridges and a bullet mould were found at a boarding house. Train crew members will be brought to identify the suspects.
