Dr. W. L. Pettingill of Wilmington Delaware opens an interdenominational week of Bible lectures at Westminster Presbyterian church in Decatur. The series runs each morning at 10 and evenings at 7 30 except Saturday with all creeds invited and requests attendees bring their Bibles. The week closes Sunday with three services at Westminster Church as Rev Ernest N Hart welcomes all.

The Decatur Chamber of Commerce seeks $9,000 to carry on 1933 work with a minimum $5,000 budget for dues and campaigns. In 1932 pledges reached $4,200 with about 86 percent paid. The drive, next Tuesday January 24, aims to recruit 400 memberships. A joint meeting with the Rotary Kiwanis Pilot and Chamber will precede the kickoff. The drive funds support attracting new industry and a Buy Decatur movement. The 1932-era progress includes the Decatur Ten Year Farm Plan to build a year round cash market for farm produce.

Rabies Test Confirms Positive Head From Cullman County Cat

William Johnson Webster, 85, veteran of the Columbia bar and former Columbia resident now in Decatur, died Monday. Funeral services were held in Columbia and burial followed at Rose Hill cemetery. He was among the few in the South to study under General Robert E. Lee at Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia.
