Tornadoes Kill Seven in McComb and Hit the Gulf States
A two mile tornado path through McComb Mississippi killed seven and injured over 100 with businesses and homes leveled. The Gulf States ending with Alabama and Louisiana saw further fatalities and extensive damage including Pell City. 130 Mississippi national guardsmen were deployed to patrol damaged areas.

A funnel cloud sighting near Courtland triggered a 2:29 p.m. tornado warning. the watch ended by 6 p.m. No major damage was reported. Limestone County power outages affected about 1,500. Residents sought shelter as floodwaters rose in Lawrence Morgan and Cullman counties.

Tornado Strikes Pell City Causing Extensive Damage
A tornado tore through downtown Pell City Alabama injuring about 50 people and destroying or making 100 houses 75 mobile homes and 25 businesses untenable. The only fatality in the Alabama twisters was a man killed at a Ragland gas station. Disaster crews opened a National Guard armory for the injured and power and communications were disrupted.
