Soviet Premier Kosygin demands an end to U S air raids in North Viet Nam to create conditions for negotiations. He calls for U S troop withdrawal from South Viet Nam and even from South Korea, warning that aggressive actions could widen the war. The U S replies that aggression by North Viet Nam caused international tension and must stop. In Saigon, Viet Cong activity shows a lull as U S air strikes press on with bombers at Bien Hoa.
The Decatur High School Band Boosters present the Birmingham Symphony Association at matinee and evening shows in the high school auditorium. Lawrence County High School of Moulton swept the Lawrence County science fair on Friday. Under Don Chitwood the school collected eight top honors across senior and junior biological and physical divisions with winners including David Alexander Joyce Rose Charles Borden David Roberson Roger Spillers Eugene Roger Johnny Waters and Sherry Armstrong.
