Wounds Wife Then Kills Self in Florida Hospital
In Bartow Florida an elderly husband shot his cancer stricken wife three times with a .38 revolver and then killed himself in a hospital room. Police Chief Guy Bostick said nurses called him a devoted husband and hospital staff feared the wife would die from the wounds.
January 1947 Decatur business shows gains over year ago
The University of Alabama report by H E Chapman notes January bank debits in Decatur at 17 298 020 dollars, down 8.3 percent from December but up 26.3 percent from January last year. Savings deposits rose slightly from December and were just below year ago totals. Postal receipts declined from December and year ago, while postal savings increased year over year.
