Republic seeks injunction to end Long Island strike
Republic Aviation Corp said it seeks an injunction to end the strikebound plants on Long Island where minor skirmishes occurred with no injuries and many arrests. Mediation has begun and the State Supreme Court ordered the union to show cause for an injunction. Federal mediators and union leaders will meet tomorrow to try to restart jet plane production.

Groundwork Set For City Census
Official application for a special census of Decatur is expected to be filed today by Mayor H. R. Summer. Eleven special maps by Louis Patillo have been completed and turned over to the mayor who will mail a check for 1530 dollars and transmit the materials to the Bureau of the Census in Washington. The bureau may send a contract to the city. The total cost will be determined after the census. The last official Decatur census was in 1950.

Friends Spur Hunt For Body Of Fisherman
Sheriff Franklin Smith said he was authorized by Giles County to offer a 500 dollar reward for the recovery of Paul Christopher, a fisherman who drowned in the Tennessee River Sunday near Wheeler Dam. Lankford White Sentenced For Brother Slaying
Lankford White, 60, a Cullman County farmer, pleaded guilty to killing his brother Luther White last Oct 30 and received a life term from Circuit Judge Murray Battles. White shot his brother through the throat at the brother’s home after aiming at his niece Mary Jane White. Luther died at Cullman Hospital the next morning. A 12-year-old boy Johnny White was slightly wounded.
