Decatur businessman enters race for District 5 seat

Decatur businessman Donald Curbow announced Friday his candidacy for the District 5 House seat to replace Rep. Bob Jones. He notified the Morgan County probate office of his plan to seek the Democratic nomination, though Birmingham party officials said he had not filed district-wide qualification papers. Curbow runs DNC Tax Service in Decatur and could not be reached for details.

Inflation slows as food and fuel prices retreat

The January report shows consumer prices up 0.4 percent, led by a fall in retail food prices and declines in gasoline heating fuels and new cars.
