Sunday forecast calls for fair weather with colder conditions in the North and light to moderate southerly winds along the coast. Alex H. Dunn, county commissioner from district four, and his ten year old daughter Nancy B. Dunn were injured when Dunn’s Ford truck collided with a Weinman Chevrolet in Priceville near Joe Lipscomb store. Both Dunn and Nancy were listed as not seriously injured with scalp lacerations and facial injuries. the Weinmans sustained minor cuts. Vehicle damage was about 450 dollars.
Four men stranded on Lacoh mountain after a gasless car failed to run. A second car with Chief Deputy H. Kirkpatrick and Deputies Garland Nuby and is Bariles gave them a ride and a weekend’s lodging. The ramblers had been traveling home from a weeks long trek through Tennessee.

A fire at a three room Decatur riverfront home leveled the dwelling and left six residents homeless. A 61-year-old blind woman was guided to safety by her son-in-law as flames erupted from the kitchen. No injuries were reported. The house at Bank Street belonged to E.7 Guyse, mussel fisherman, who lived there with his wife and three children and mother-in-law. Guyse said he had just completed repairs and installed a new refrigerator when the blaze started behind a laundry heater.
Leslie Williams known as Less, 74, to quit as Hartselle chief of police after 33 years of service. He cites family requests and age while recalling his dangerous career including a kidnapping and hostage incident during a bank raid. He plans to resign and hand in his badge, speaking of gratitude for years of protection.

Six persons were rushed to Decatur General Hospital after a late model Plymouth overturned about one mile east of Courtland on the Joe Wheeler highway Saturday night around 9 p.m. The victims were Mr and Mrs Bill Freeman of 514 Lafayette Street Miss Barbara Hale 1906 Enola Blvd Miss Jimmie Henderson William Copeland and George Brakefield all of Athens. The car reportedly rolled about three times as observers cited slick road conditions.

Clifford Allen Pingston 22 of Rock Hill Ja. was injured when his truck jackknifed on the Alabama river bridge between Montgomery and Prattville. he later remained unconscious but listed as fair.
The government kept a firm stance amid the nationwide soft coal strike as unions resist John L. Lewis orders. President Truman’s advisers, after four days of talks, conceded little progress yet expected many miners to return to work under Lewis’s recent instructions, while contempt actions against strikers remain a possibility.

Gordon Persons said he will take to the air in his campaign to reach voters across the state. He plans to use a helicopter equipped to carry his campaign to various communities and prospects.
A posse led by Sheriff Bibb Humphrey captured four Addison men in East Winston county after a three day search for robbers tied to the L. W. Morris store theft. The suspects James Edward Baker Olen H Baker Lindsay Buford Hyde and Hollis B Richardson admitted roles in the $350 robbery.
A Town Creek youth, Jack Winstead, was critically wounded when Town Creek Police Chief Obie Jeffreys attempted to arrest him on warrants for drunkenness and disorderly conduct at his home. Winstead was taken to Colbert County hospital where his condition remained critical Saturday night.
