Local notes Teenager Jean McRae returns from Memphis hospital
Jean McRae daughter of Mayor Knox McRae was to return yesterday after several days in Baptist Memorial Hospital Memphis where she had major surgery. A $2500 building permit was issued to R N Harris Jr to remodel and add to a gun at 1021 Canal St NE. A traffic mishap Friday involved a 1954 Chevrolet driven by Benjamin Pool and a 1950 Ford pickup driven by David Moor.

Fifth Person Held In Theft At Hartselle
Morgan County deputies announce the arrest of Cleo Bethly Mays 10 of Hartselle on charges of concealing stolen property in a January break in at H O Minors Jewelry Store. About 400 to 500 dollars worth of merchandise was taken. Carmen Holliday 19 of Massey is charged with burglary. Other theft related charges involve Talmadge Eect 3M Fairville Floyd Reeves 28 and Ernest Reeves 47 of Hartselle.

Negro Greets Bank Fisherman Found Dead in River
A man believed to be a river fisherman was found dead after wading from the TVA dock on Market Street. Police searched the swift current using multiple boats near the TVA and Ingalls docks, but the body remained elusive amid heavy water.
